Standing desk isn't making you any healthier
- anonzzzies 2y agoStanding still is rather bad for you; probably worse than sitting for long periods.

- achow 2y agoMentioned right in the article: Those hours of standing also turned out to have their own downsides, increasing people’s likelihood of developing serious circulatory problems, including varicose veins, abnormally low blood pressure and blood clots, compared with people who rarely stood. “To improve your overall health and lower your risk of heart disease, you have to mix in actual movement,” he said.

- LinuxBender 2y agoI tried one for a while and it just made me sore. It forced me to think of what I would probably actually benefit from both physically and psychologically. My preference would be a mini-office or POD that has user-definable LED lights brightness, 2200K to 6000K color, fully sound-proof, a surround sound system, a studio microphone and camera for conference calls, a variable speed/friction treadmill or bicycle, OR a standing foot massage that can vibrate and use ultrasonic emission for the entire body or a back and leg massage with IR heat, a HEPA and activated charcoal air filter to I do not have to smell my coworkers. The enclosure should double as a safe-room rated a body armor level 8 from UL 752: 7.62 FMJ 3025 FPS. Level 10 for government offices. Between the sound proofing and armor I should be able to focus on my tasks even if the building is being raided. There should be an optional monitor that alerts me if my posture or exercise levels are sub-optimal. Cue the Ooompa Loompa song
