Just the other day (like a month ago) I decided to read this book, just to see what the hype is about (I'm living my "let's read some classics and stuff" era). So I grabbed it, started to read it... and literally it took me 2 hours to reach page 15. Okay, I'm not a native speaker, but I haven't had any problems reading any books in English in the past decade+. And this was just unreadable - literally, I was unable to read it. Its vocabulary and sentence structure is just out of this world.
I gave up on it.

I have found though that often it takes me much longer to read the first few pages of a book, often the first few chapters, as if my brain needs time to internalize the author's style in order to read the rest more efficiently.
