The picture this article paints does not allign with what I personally observe. I would say the majority of developers do not have such a breadth of knowledge across the stack. And this is a bad thing. I believe the industry is historically extremely young and has many decades ahead to start settling a bit. I believe platform engineering is not the reason. K8s didn't even exist 10 years ago.
