In 1984 Apple marketed the ($2500+) Mac as the "computer for the rest of us." That was not exactly correct. It was the "computer for people who have trouble using DOS or the C64 but have a lot of money."
That being said, in 2024 Apple does play in the $350-$600 market with the iPad, iPhone SE, and Mac mini, which still support Apple's margin structure and profit share strategy.
