Only very liberal people believe anything in the NYT. They've called Trump (and all republicans before him) hitler too many times. Too many of their gotcha stories turn out to be fake. They ran with the russia nonsense for years. It would be nice to have a place where you could get a factual account of current events but the NYT is not it. I really dont understand this "sane wash" angle. They literally were calling him hitler, fascist, blah blah right up to the election. Go ahead and downvote. If you want to keep believing that everyone to the right of Mao is too stupid to recognize that the NYT and its fellow msm outlets are trying to manipulate them with nearly every story, go ahead.

Americans are liberal narcissists that care more about opinions and the right to be an asshole than they care about other people. The only difference is that some of them care about trying to grant abortions and others want to not grant abortions. But all care about bullshit rather than shit that matters, like rent and wages and housing development. There is no political constituency demanding economic rights, for instance, nor any party that stands for workers. There is no party that calls out the government for catering to corporations over citizens as the american government clearly does. I mean if you want to call conservatives "fascists" you can, but fascism is just a degenerate form of liberalism and it's not like the democrats are any less fascist than republicans. It's all right-wing bullshit that puts aesthetics and comfort ahead of anything that people should actually care about. I guess you could call the rest of the world "communist" if you think the democrats are to the left of liberalism but who would take you seriously

I'm not especially liberal and think a lot of the journalism in the NYT is quite good. There's nothing totally unbiased in life. Just googling "site:nytimes.com trump hitler" I didn't see anything saying straight Trump is Hitler although they are willing to say point out that JD Vance questioned if he was "America's Hitler" which seems fair enough to me. (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/12/magazine/jd-vance-interview.html https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/12/magazine/jd-vance-intervi...) Dunno if you have a link for them saying that or maybe it's unreliable right wing sources saying the NYT says Trump is Hitler?
