I was a boomer latchkey kid, first coming to to the next door neighbors' in elementary school in the mid-60s to coming home along in the later 60s and 1970s. It was fine, but then it was semi-rural Puget Sound area in the 60s...lots of neighbor kids, very few places to hang out except the street and each others' houses. Mom and dad came home from work, we all had dinner and spent the evening together. No divorces, even among my friends. I know the 80s and 90s were a different world.
