How is this relevant to HackerNews?
- sidcool 2y agoHN is mainly American audience. So it's something rest of the world has to bear.
- schnitzelstoat 2y agoThis affects the whole world though. The USA is the economic and military hegemon and by a large margin too.
- siffin 2y agoAs someone in a small but wealthy western nation, the US elections are far more important than our own. We can't destroy the world, they can.
- hnfong 2y agohear hear

- _ink_ 2y agoAre you suggesting that politics has no influence on the tech world?
- ImaCake 2y agoEspecially considering that Peter Thiel, who was a partner at Y Combinator, was fairly involved in the Republican Ticket. This is very on topic for HN and rightfully so, even if the comments are a mess.
- trymas 2y agoI just want to emphasise - JD Vance, from what I have read is a direct proxy for Thiel. Without Thiel - there is no Vance.
- maxehmookau 2y agoHow is it not relevant? The US election has wide-reaching effects for technology workers across the US and the world.
- flanked-evergl 2y agoHN is simply following the trend of sacrificing institutional capital for political goals. Trust in media is at an all-time low because they too decided to sacrifice institutional capital for political goals, and now they have neither institutional capital nor their political goals, and that's a good thing.
