I strongly disagree the TTL Exceeded message isn't a feature > Features are things that enable functionality. It doesn't do that. It does. It enables traceroute. Your entire argument is defeated by the fact it gives you this functionality. And yeah it's not perfect. Stop making perfect the enemy of good.
