I usually give when I see people. I've volunteered helping and met people in a variety of circumstances. The only thing I've learned that's common to all of them is they don't want to be in that situation. I'm not going to judge someone on what they do with it. I have a fundamental belief that people are going to do the best they can with what they have. I'm going to put it all in the same level of self-determinism as the people who give me my income and what say they have on what I can do with it (none). If anything, by giving them that with no strings attached at least I gave them a little bit of dignity. If you're not convinced, I encourage you to talk to them and make up your own mind.
