Yeah, I feel the discussion around this is usually "random metrics can be gamed and may not reflect true value of a person's contributions". But neither does unmeasurable gut feeling! If you use done tickets or whatever metric to _determine_ value that's a bad idea. If you use it to ask questions or confirm impressions it can be useful.
