I really think those curbside janky decks of OSB are hedious.
They are bad in many ways (IMO):
For the business: they block the view of the front of the restaurant. All that money they put into interior design, signage, window lettering, lights. Can’t really see it if walking on the opposite sidewalk or from afar. All I see is the matte black plywood and OSB shack blocking it all.
As a driver: sometimes these things are near a corner and you can’t see what’s coming before you turn because this behemoth blocks everything.
Uber eats cars scooters and bicycles can’t really park there so they double park slightly past it and it’s all a mess.
As a patron, they are never that great. Dark, uneven, always slightly tilted because the road crown makes it so, cramped and just overall blegh. It’s like eating in the subway. No view of anything because they are built like shit.
Also you’re wayyy to close to cars, I much prefer to be on the sidewalk.
Let’s bring back just tables right outside of the restaurant on the sidewalk, maybe little heaters, see what’s happening around, isn’t that the beauty of outdoor sitting? Being able to see the outdoors?
