Those startup's only mistake was choosing the wrong bank, one that was the de-facto standard in the sector and pushed by the likes of YC. I don't know if I agree with the gov making them whole, but it isn't really comparable to the Intel situation imho. It's not like the gov bailed out SVB and its investors itself.
