Many people love React for its speed
Compared to what? On which sites? Maybe it's me, but I don't find Instagram particularly speedy, especially on new tab loads. It's heavy af in fact and sometimes can not load at all. Also,

I think we should back claims like this up, cause there's more than enough free-floating factoids around it. I can mostly tell when site is using react cause it's modern-slow in a specific way.
- cannibalXxx 2y agobut then why do you think react is topping this list? is it because it's a tool created by facebook or is it the technology that's really good? - wruza 2y agoIdk, personally I see no reason for it to top it. IMO, it's a tenacious stereotype complex enough to stay unquestioned by most. And propagated by the same principle. These exist and can live for decades if ok enough.
- the__alchemist 2y agoThis has been FUD promoted by the React project since its inception. I first heard, and believed this, when I didn't understand web dev. I assumed it had some magic interaction with the browser. Reality: React is, and has been, slow, compared to directed DOM updates using JS. It's a JS library that maintains intermediate memory representation of the DOM, and usescomputations that update the DOM with that. I assume the react is fast descriptor is comparing to a strawman. (The original Angular maybe?)
