  Check how US steel and auto industry prospered in a connected world with unionized workforce competing with Mexico labour. You can't legislate your way to profitability... Global competition will eat the profit margin and companies won't have enough money to honour their contracts and will go bust (as history shows). No written law can compete with the invisible hand of the market.
