Highly ideological? You're talking as if the goal here were to run off rich people from the country, and not the stated purpose, to generate more government revenue from people who can afford it. If the goal is to run off rich people, then yes, it's working exactly as intended. But a proponent of such a measure certainly has no business calling critics of such a measure "highly ideological." Hatred of a specific group of people and subsequently harming them in response is not something we generally think governments ought to do in liberal democracies.
