Notepad++ is the single biggest reason I prefer a windows pc over a macbook. It's such a no nonsense app with exactly the right mix of features and usability. One of these days I'll ditch vs code in favour of np++ for all my editing needs.
- timeon 2y agoIt is not Notepad++ but you can still run Sublime Text or BBEdit and others (like Zed) on Macos. No need for VS Code. There is also PSPad on Windows which is similar to Notepad++.
- rickette 2y agoI consider Textmate the notepad++ for MacOS (it's great, but then again I can't stand working on windows).
- aunlead 2y agoClosest Notepad++ alternative I found on Mac was CotEditor - https://github.com/coteditor/CotEditor https://github.com/coteditor/CotEditor. Has all the basic features apart from plugin support.
- ruthmarx 2y agoYou could run it via wine if that is really your own hangup from switching to mac.
