How many of them are poorly designed superyachts, though? Superyachts are perceived as extra safe, and surely design blunders like this one are outstanding in 21st century naval engineering. I think a lot of people on HN would love to read a postmortem on how exactly the process in an experienced engineering company got bent to cater to the client's preference enough to kill him, or at least a safety board investigation report.
- foobarian 2y agoIt does seem like the incident is shedding a lot of new light on how poorly the super yacht design is regulated. Honestly one look at that mast and unless that thing is on a submarine I really don't know what the builders were thinking.
