Like either he's getting iced out of the White House or there will be revolution in the street. You can't be the richest person and ask the country to brace for economic hardship. We don't live in society that can take that. Neoliberalism and deregulation have taken patience to the brink for the majority of voters. Like what America is he living in where voters are going to put up with that?
- bayarearefugee 2y agoAnd on the other side of things if Trump loses I don't think Musk realizes the MAGA cult-mind is going to search for scapegoats and I imagine he's pretty high on the list of likely targets, especially when they find out how poorly he ran the get-out-the-vote drive he's responsible for.
- xenospn 2y agoDon’t you know? Nothing is ever their fault. Their team is perfect. It’s always the other guys. Always. They never lose, the other guys cheat. ALWAYS.
- blackeyeblitzar 2y agoI mean his wealth is basically irrelevant. A lot of his wealth isn’t even actually there (it’s just unrealized gains that can’t be realized in real life). But even setting that aside, the spending we do as a country and at all the other levels of the government is insanely huge. The federal government alone is obligated to spend around $9T. State and local governments spend another $4T ish. That’s $13T in one year. The total theoretical wealth of all the billionaires in the US is less than $6T. You could take away all of their wealth and it would not solve the spending issues we face. Either way, deep spending cuts HAVE to happen, to prevent the worst case economic hardship.
