AI is killing remote work
- eschneider 2y agoHmmm...AI is a hell of a drug.
- Devasta 2y agoSounds like cope, tbh. If they are really seeing such amazing productivity gains, I'm guessing they are also reducing to a 3 hour work day, right?
- andsoitis 2y agoThat’s not how productivity gains typically play out. Instead, the “saved” time (or ~5 hours in your example, assuming a 8 hour workday) can be used to increase output. So that would mean you still work 8 hours but get ~13 hours’s worth of output (8 + 5).
- red-iron-pine 2y agowill workers be paid more to reflect that higher output? rhetorical question, we all know the answer
- andsoitis 2y agoNot necessarily because labor is, like other resources, subject to supply and demand.
- JSDevOps 2y agoIn what world is AI killing remote work?
- palata 2y agoThat sounds like an interesting interview question. I would never hire someone who thinks like that.
- xenospn 2y agoSounds like they might be running out of money and trying to put an AI-flavored spin on it.
- Devasta 2y agoThey did ban NSFW creators from Gumroad earlier in the year...
- hcfman 2y agoAI or not has no influence on the remote work argument imo. A quick search seems to indicate that this guy is the ceo of gumroad. In other high in a management tree, they are always trying to make arguments to stop remote working. No surprise that this is his conclusion.
- red-iron-pine 2y agoIf AI kills a job, it kills a job, regardless of where that job is located. I can't see what RTO brings outside of some vague "improved collaboration" which is hard to quantify, and can be done remotely with common tools and practices.
