Pg_analytics has switched to PostgreSQL license
- shayonj 2y agoNice! Love the direction
- nik736 2y agoOff topic but the designer who came up with that logo is a genius! :-)

- philippemnoel 2y agoI know right! We worked with this individual designer from Reddit. If you want their name, shoot me an email/linkedin/etc. and I'll connect you. He was great to work with.
- Mystery-Machine 2y agoPlease update the title. Suggestion: Pg_analytics has switched to PostgreSQL license When I first read this, I thought it's a smirk on pg_analytics being some kind of a wrapper around PostgreSQL and that they license and charge you for using it, kind of like how AWS is famous for wrapping various open-source projects and selling them.
- dang 2y agoOk, updated. Thanks! (Submitted title was "Pg_analytics is now PostgreSQL Licensed")
- ayhanfuat 2y agoI guess this is a response to pg_duckdb which had its initial release last week: https://github.com/duckdb/pg_duckdb https://github.com/duckdb/pg_duckdb Love the competition though. Looking forward to trying both of them when they are in RDS.
- philippemnoel 2y agoIn some ways :). We've come to learn this feature should be truly open to the community, and are doing what we can to provide options to people. We had already done the work, so might as well make it accessible to as many as possible! :)
- 0xbadcafebee 2y agoTrying to find out what this is / what DuckDB is. Go to website, see completely meaningless splash screen that doesn't tell you anything useful. Go to Documentation, see usage information, absolutely no information about what this actually is. Go to FAQ, still no information about what this is. Is there some new rule about tech-focused startups where you're not allowed to tell somebody what it actually is / how it works / what it's used for, because you're afraid people will find out it's not for them? edit ah after going back and poking around the website more, I finally found the "Why DuckDB" buried halfway in a menu. Still not a great summary, so Googling led me to understand it's SQLite for analytics. Maybe i'm the weirdo for wanting to see that first?
- jackthetab 2y agoI've been yelling at the clouds over the same thing for years. Glad to see someone else being a "weirdo"! For you those of you doing this, know that I won't go digging like 0xbadcafebee will; I'll avoid you when I go to choose a tech.
- justinclift 2y agoYeah, it's kind of weird that sometimes looking for a thing on wikipedia gives a better description of that thing than just being able to read a "Here's what we do..." on their home page. :/
- shidoshi 2y agoNice seeing you guys on the front page. New York can't stop, won't stop.
- philippemnoel 2y agoNew York is very much alive in the software world :)

- justinclift 2y agoLooks like it was previously the AGPL, and has now switched to the PostgreSQL license: • https://github.com/paradedb/pg_analytics/commit/fa5e846248d36aa2791b8d513d725e9fcf35ea46 https://github.com/paradedb/pg_analytics/commit/fa5e846248d3... • https://github.com/paradedb/pg_analytics/commit/376f851a6a3820e3951283c5cf232cf973cb2624 https://github.com/paradedb/pg_analytics/commit/376f851a6a38...
