I'm working on (yet another :)) key-value store. It's 99% educational project for me, no ambitions to create a startup or such, just a good enough project to try various technologies e.g. new protocols, kernel by-pass, libraries like SPDK or xnvme. Planning to go distributed as well, probably using Raft.
