Apple put the Magic Mouse's charging port on the bottom, again

- dsq 2y agoObviously no higher ups at Apple ever need to charge their own mouse.
- Brajeshwar 2y agoI’m not trying to defend anyone’s choice of design but honestly I’ve never felt the frustration of the charge at the “wrong” location. The worst when the battery died, I just flip it, charge and when I’m back from my tea break, I can use it. Otherwise, a random overnight charge once a few months is good enough to not worry and even remember charging it.

- damnesian 2y agoIt's horrific UX. It makes so much more sense to be able to use a thing while charging it. And it is the de facto industry standard for mice and keyboards as well. Yes, there are many items than can't be charged and used simultaneously, but if it is an option, it is an option that should be used. Clearly for a mouse, it is possible.
- Someone 2y agoEven ignoring looks, which some users value, Apple may have good reasons for this choice. Because of environmental concerns modern USB cables are fairly stiff. What would the usability of this fairly light mouse be with such a cable attached? This design also almost guarantees the battery in this device will not be connected to a charger for long durations. That may be good for keeping the battery healthy.
