I think that all of his explanations to do with the content itself are wrong. It's simply that a sufficiently good writer is fun to read every time they write. There could easily be such a writer about pretty much any field if anyone was good enough at writing and motivated enough to do it. But they're not (yet). There is a requirement that whatever field it is, they understand most of it really well. And there aren't that many people who have gotten to that point.
