In nationwide first, California plans to rev up sales of electric motorcycles
- marssaxman 2y agoI have wanted an electric motorcycle so badly for so long that I actually spent months of effort and a fair bit of money twelve years ago trying to convert one - alas, without success - but I'm still waiting for a machine I'd want to ride at a price I'd be comfortable paying. In the meantime, I've moved closer to the city center, and e-bikes have gotten much better - better even than a motorcycle would be, for many of the shorter trips. For longer trips, it's not clear how much range we will ever be able to fit into a bike, given the limits of battery power density; thus I am no longer certain there is an electric motorcycle in my future at all. Alas!
- harambae 2y agoI'm personally excited for the potential of MX parks or trails to be closer to urban areas if they're electric-only. I'm also not sure on the viability of longer-range electric motorcycles, given that they can't just add a ton of extra batteries like cars. Maybe some (better than existing) hybrid motorcycles are the future.
