You continue to look foolish when you attempt to ridicule others because you think they are wrong or ignorant, because you yourself don't realize your knowledge is limited and out of date. You're basically equivalent to someone from an earlier era ridiculing a modern person trying to explain the earth is in fact, not the center of the universe.
