There's a huge difference between prohibiting the import and sale of a product (much more reasonable) and prohibiting the ownership and use of a product (much less reasonable).
- FabHK 2y agoI’d think that importing and using for example an aviation band transceiver is regulated in most countries, and prohibited unless both the device and the user fulfil certain requirements. As such, prohibiting the ownership and use of a device is nothing extraordinary.
- JoshTriplett 2y agoThat's an entirely different case, and absolutely an extraordinary one. The prohibited thing there is transmitting on an aviation band without fulfilling the requirements to do so; that prohibition would apply just as much whether you hand-built a transmitter yourself, or bought a domestically produced one, or imported one.
