Are you sure the address isn’t disabled? It is a feature. A “hide my” address can be set up on your account but disabled, meaning that you own that address but it will not forward the email to your mailbox. You can enable it at any time, at which point the emails sent to that address will be forwarded. I’ve used this feature many times and never had any problems.
