Corporations were given too much power, allowing them to erode cooperations with with good, varied yield by buying up farms one at a time until the coop as a whole didn't have good, varied yield anymore, and going "oh poor babies let us buy your entire coop, you can keep farming but we, instead of the market, will pay you", and the law went "this is fine, there is no problem here", and it continues to say that to this day.
