The daughter of the LA Times owner wrote: "There is a lot of controversy and confusion over the LAT’s decision not to endorse a presidential candidate. I trust the Editorial Board’s judgment. For me, genocide is the line in the sand."

- favorited 2y agoAbsolute nonsense. It wasn't the Editorial Board's decision, it was her father's. He has publicly stated that he blocked the endorsement, and multiple members of the Editorial Board have resigned in protest. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/oct/25/los-angeles-times-owner-blocks-harris-endorsement https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/oct/25/los-angeles-... https://apnews.com/article/los-angeles-times-editors-resign-af6c077d502c9d4878bee01fa6575450 https://apnews.com/article/los-angeles-times-editors-resign-...
- themgt 2y agoThe point to me was the owner's daughter suggesting the genocide was their family's reason for not wanting to endorse.
- BobaFloutist 2y agoFunny that she tried launder it through the Editorial Board's "judgement," in that case.
- favorited 2y agoExactly. Soon-Shiong said he didn't want to "add to the division," and that he had asked the Editorial Board to "publish a list of positive and negative attributes about both of the presidential candidates." His daughter's claim that the decision was based on the candidates' support of Israel has no basis in any reporting. It's also just a bad lie, because her father and (now former) members of the Editorial Board have spoken publicly about their reasons.
