- teleforce 2y agoFun facts, originally when launched by both Steve Jobs of Apple and Bill Gates of Microsoft back in 1985 at Tavern on the Green, New York, Excel has 16,384 rows and 256 columns, where's the original Excel's rows now exactly matched the Excel's current column.
- xnorswap 2y agoThe 256 column limit lasted for a very long time.
- 0cf8612b2e1e 2y agoIn 1985, that would have been a huge limit. 4 million values x 4 bytes =~ 16MB (at least, I assume there is significant overhead per cell)
- palsecam 2y agoIe.: max 2^20 rows, 2^14 columns.
- deafpolygon 2y agoThought it was going to be interesting; turns out it’s just an ad.
- kstrauser 2y agoGodspeed if you ever find yourself using it in a way that makes you aware of those limits.
- OptionOfT 2y agoThis isn't a real blog post. This is an advertisement masqueraded as a blog post, generated by AI. Check the 'questions' at the bottom: * What is the row limit in Excel? * What is the column limit in Excel? * The effects of hitting the Excel row limit * Why does Excel have a maximum number of rows? * Conclusion Which answer the same stuff as explained in the first block.
- demaga 2y ago> Additionally, the row limit is 2^20 which is the max number of rows that can be represented in a 32 bit system. I don't get it. Why is it the maximum? Also, why 32 bit systems are still a concern?
