The headline is misleading editorial which doesn't seem to have any sources to back up anything... Fox News worthy.
Is there a reliable source to say that the government will ignore this petition? Has Theresa May given a direct response?
This 'article' seems to have no actual new verified news in it from what I can see.
Personally I'm hopeful either the petition will have an effect, or he'll be able to drag things out indefinitely like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_McKinnon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_McKinnon (US have been trying to get him for 10 years for "unauthorised computer access").
Probably the best thing he could do is to get married and have some children...

- ColinWright 14y agoCNN carries the same story: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-57465495-38/u.k-home-secretary-wont-block-odwyer-extradition/ http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-57465495-38/u.k-home-secre...
- mootothemax 14y agoThere's quite a difference in reporting though: BoingBoing: Home Secretary to net activists: shut up, I'm rendering Richard O'Dwyer to USA vs. CNET: The U.K. Home Office has said the Home Secretary... will not intervene in the Richard O'Dwyer case.
- beedogs 14y agoThe only difference is hyperbole. BoingBoing doesn't pretend to be CNET or the New York Times. Anyone who can't detect hyperbole should throw themselves off a bridge.
- mibbitier 14y agoNeither of them cite a definitive source though. Where has the Home Office said this, and when did they say it?
- ColinWright 14y agoFrom http://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/news/2188558/home-office-ignore-anti-odwyer-extradition-petition http://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/news/2188558/home-office-ignore-an... The Home Office has confirmed home secretary Theresa May will not block TVShack founder Richard O'Dwyer's US extradition, despite widespread calls for her to do so. The office confirmed to V3 that it was aware of Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales' anti-extradition petition, but would not be swayed by it on Monday. "Richard O'Dwyer is wanted in the US for offences related to copyright infringement," a Home Office spokesman told V3. etc
