Keep in mind that the 8 cores run at 1GHz, and have a simple simple scalar exexution, from the product page:
- 5.75 CoreMarks/MHz
- 3.25 DMIPS/MHz
- 4.6 SpecINT2k6/GHz
This SOC is mostly interesting for the 512 wide (probably single 512 vector issue) vector extension support.
If the price is right this might usable as a nice little low power number cruncher.
The lockstep mode is also interesting for industry uses.
While possible, it's certainly nothing you'd want to run a desktop on.
