Thank you for this. If there were bad actors then I fully support Linus being down the hammer because the kernel project is vital infrastructure. On the other hand i find open source projects like the Linux kernel and the work being done at CERN and the even the international space station — all this multinational collaboration I think is good for society and for peace. So I hope and pray they can figure it out. I’ve known a handful of Russians in my day and have worked with some Eastern European engineers from Ukraine and Russia and Estonia and every one of them has impressed me. I mean take the Clickhouse database for example that came out of Yandex. It’s awesome! Anyways I’m probably far too gullible and naive but that’s my hope is that while the nations might be at war the collective group of hackers that make things like Linux as awesome as it is keep it about the code. Except it’s always bad actors that screw everyone and everything be they spy agencies or just trolls.
