- analog31 2y agoIndeed, I was thinking of an elective republic, which is also how I think the founders conceived it. Example from Federalist 57: >>> The elective mode of obtaining rulers is the characteristic policy of republican government. We can debate how electors are chosen, but if the elected choose their own electors, then it's not a republic.
