The extents people will go to, to avoid having to spend a morning learning git
- lawn 2y agoI don't know. I reimplemented large parts of Git in order to get a better understanding of it and I still manage to mess up sometimes.
- steveklabnik 2y agoI know and love(d) git. I use jj because it is strictly better for me. Don’t assume people only make choices out of ignorance.
- incognito124 2y agoIf you can learn git in a morning, you can definitely learn jj in 12 minutes
- stouset 2y agoI have used git since pre-GitHub. I have written an implementation of git. I have given talks on git at local users’ groups. I am awed by the underlying data model of git and deeply appreciate it as an incredible innovation. I still think that it’s an amazing foundation to build a great VCS on. I learned jj in one morning and will never go back to git.
- keybored 2y agoWhat do you think is the intersection of people who don’t know Git but know jj? Probably measured in square micrometers.
- knowitnone 2y agowhy bother learning to bike when you can walk? why bother learning to drive when you can bike? How's COBOL and Fortran doing these days?
