For folks who are skeptical about OpenAI's potential, I think Brad Gerstner does a really good job representing the bull case for them (his firm Altimeter was a major investor in their recent round).
- They reached their current revenue of ~$5B about 2.5 years faster than Google and about 4.5 years faster than Facebook
- Their valuation to forward revenue (based on current growth) is inline with where Google and Facebook IPO'd

- youoy 2y agoDoes OpenAI's revenue per user increase with each new user? I don't think so, but it was definitely the case with Google and Facebook . That's a big difference that you can not overlook
- x_may 2y agoI think right now they lose more money with each user. But maybe their value lies in training data
- cynicalpeace 2y agoOpenAI is not profitable. That was OK in the case of Google and Facebook because switching off of either platform was too costly for a consumer. Clear path to profitability. But OpenAI is super easy to switch off of. You can plug and play models very easily.
