TSMC may have breached US sanctions; Apple chip production could be at risk

- az09mugen 2y agoSome things are not clear to me, maybe because I'm not native english. For example I don't understand this sentence : "That ended when the US government imposed sanctions against China, prohibiting US companies from exporting advanced technology to the country. That included US-made 5G chips [...]". From the wikipedia page of TSMC [0], I see it is a taiwanese company. Apple is a US customer from TSMC. It doesn't make sense, TSMC is not a US company even though it seems it had exported technology to China. Did the US exported 5G chips to TSMC in order to make phones ? It is written TSMC used US-made equipment to make the chips, but that does not make it a US company. I think I am clearly missing something essential to understand the article. Or maybe the article is not well written ? Can someone please enlighten me please ? [0] : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/TSMC https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/TSMC
