It's worth pointing out that, of the hosts Wordpress.org just promoted (https://wordpress.org/news/2024/10/wp-engine-promotions/ https://wordpress.org/news/2024/10/wp-engine-promotions/) 3 are owned by Automattic and the other 2 pay Automattic licensing/service fees.
- markdown 2y agoThanks. Good to know that there are decent hosts to choose from, that help support WP by paying licensing/service fees.
- legitster 2y agoThey don't "support WP". All the fees are going to Automattic, as was revealed in term sheet Matt himself shared. The "volunteers" on the WP project that approve all of the work and revisions are full time Automattic employees. The work that the Foundation does primarily benefits Automattic. There is nothing to even support besides Automattic.
- markdown 2y agoYou are contradicting yourself. The money goes to the company that employs the people that work on WP... soooo, the better Automattic does, the better it is for WP.
