Genuinely curious how they could not get a linux version running. If they can release a working android version for their other SoCs, what stops them from releasing a working Linux distro?
I know they have tons of proprietary blobs but I suspect they could still just deliver a linux ISO with all the binaries included.
It just smells like someone at Qualcomm did not see the value and cut the budget to the bone. I had my fears around long term software support of those chips. This news makes me even less confident that I trust them to support these chips long term.

Qualcomm laid off 1200 last year and a few hundred last month (and I'm sure there's been more if I look deeper), so it's not doing anything special compared to the rest of the industry.
