I hadn't heard of gravel racing before (not that I pay so much attention), so I appreciate the article. It kind of glosses over the actual amount of money that the cyclists could be making. I wish there was some example: Are these riders making $10,000 per year? $100,000? $1,000,000?
If you go to race websites, it looks like the riders are doing this for fun and recognition, and probably need to have full-time jobs to fund their racing. Is all the money in sponsorships? Or is there very little money?
