Trump claims Tim Cook called him about EU fining Apple $17B
- retskrad 2y agoTim Cook’s conversations with Trump starts at 47:27.
- znpy 2y agoCurious he went to Donald Trump rather than to Biden or Harris. Tells you a lot of the actual political leanings of Tim Cook (and Apple by extension).
- AnimalMuppet 2y agoMaybe not. Maybe he went to both, and Trump is the one who made it public. Trump has both the inclination (need to be in the spotlight) and the reason (looking relevant before the election) to make this public. Biden has neither.
- Gud 2y agoWhy is this being downvoted? Makes a lot of sense to me.
- legitster 2y agoFrom the article: > It’s very possible Cook has had similar conversations with Kamala Harris, but that hasn’t been reported yet.
- wumeow 2y agoHe could also just be lying. It's been known to happen.

- austin-cheney 2y agoA potential taste of things to come, justice for sale at the highest levels in exchange for favors.
- big-green-man 2y agoIf you think that sort of thing isn't happening regardless of who's in charge you must live in paradise. Companies worth hundreds of billion, even a trillion dollars, these are "national interest" level entities, core parts of the US economy, with billions of users abroad which makes them major tools of international influence. Their CEOs have the president on speed dial and vice versa. Turning that into a partisan talking point just shows your naivete (or dishonesty, but I assume good faith).
- austin-cheney 2y agoThe EU fining Apple is not a national security attack upon the US. When the United Fruit Company fell upon regulation from a democratically elected Guatemalan president the US was also not under national security attack.
- big-green-man 2y agoI didn't say it was.
- beardyw 2y agoNot sure what Trump could do about it. Go to war?
- donsupreme 2y agoTim Cook, Mark Zuckerberg, et al, are not stupid. They know full well their conversation with Trump will come out publicly, they knew that before calling him.
- Shawnecy 2y agoWhy believe his claim?
- croes 2y agoThe EU didn't fine Apple, they just have to pay the missing taxes that were illegally reduced.
