I used to live in a small town near Malaga in Spain and it was a very nice and laid back area. This was around 20min from the beach, maybe coastal towns get a bit more tourism and night life which might be a turn-off since they get flooded in Summer and I’d imagine there are more expensive as well. It gets VERY hot during the summer though so that might qualify as “not nice weather “
