- discretion22 2y agoI worked on air quality monitoring about 30 years ago and the equipment used a Kalman filter to remove measurement noise and give stability; it had been added to the software a number of years earlier by a mathematics student who was working as a summer job with the company. No-one in the team had heard of it before but it solved lots of the stability issues and was core to the system ever after.
