Wow, thanks for your comprehensive takedown.
I was aware of some of these issues but not aware of the huge developer dislike... it does make a difference to the ability of a system such as Drupal to be able to capitalise on WordPress issues.
- solardev 2y agoYeah, I still surprise myself over how passionately I hate Drupal. I've been a developer of various sorts for ~30 years, and sure, there's some languages and frameworks I like more than others, but for the most part they don't really elicit an emotional reaction. They run the gamut from "not my favorite" to "this is pretty nice". Drupal is the only software I've ever come to outright hate. It makes me stress-eat and want to punch something. To be fair, it's not universally disliked... after all, some 25-30% of those survey respondents still like it, as does at least one other person in this thread. It's just more widely disliked than most other frameworks. Despite that, for something this old and bloated, it still has a healthy ecosystem and lots of developers and conferences and vendors and such. I'm just not one of them, lol.
