What does privacy and safety, have to do with memory safety and CVEs? You are conflating multiple aspects of software engineering.

I couldn't find anything to corroborate this with a quick Google search, other than some article from the early 2010s about gmail being slow.

Not to say it was there, but not finding it now is weak evidence for it not having happened.
