Is the "common good" a nickname for Automattic's bottom line?
The man is a narcissist and a scoundrel. He can't allow anyone to compete with his wordpress company.
- Arnt 2y agoThat's something else I noticed as an open source developer: Many people who just used the code didn't realise how much work it was. They used the code and thought it was good, but did not connect that to anyone's work. They knew that there was a team working, and they also knew that they could apt-get some software, but didn't really see any connection between the two. Which led to questions rather like «Is the "common good" a nickname for Automattic's bottom line?»
- tovej 2y agoI work in open source. I would not pull the kind of bullshit Matt has pulled. Matt is not some poor underfunded open source developer. He's the CEO of a company with thousands of employees. What Matt is doing is trying to effectively remove open source components of wordpress from the market so that he can sell them. He's already co-opting other peoples work and taking control of it (e.g. AFC). I think you should look into the facts of the matter before deciding that I'm "confused".
