There've been a lot of studies and meta studies on correlation between cellphone usage and academic performance. IIRC the Pearson correlation coefficient for that has always been hilariously low. Something like -0.1 to -0.2. The argument these days is more about "distraction" caused by cellphone usage instead of something quantitative.
