I'd replace the underlying data structure used to represent buffers (https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/html_node/elisp/Buffer-Internals.html https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/html_node/elisp/Bu...) with something more sophisticated, like ropes or piece tables.
- binary132 2y agoWhy? Not saying it’s a bad idea, but I probably don’t understand what’s practically wrong with the simple design of emacs’ buffer class.
