And I started with "As you say we do need better advocacy and more transparency in difficult situations" and I agree with that.
I just want religion left out of such topics, because it makes everything worse.
- hitekker 2y agoYou have the freedom to hate religious people, but like the GP says, you may want to vent somewhere else.
- rixed 2y agoThe only message showing any sign of hate here is yours right there. Also, I don't think it's ok to ask someone to shut up or to go elsewhere. Let's not forget that being charitable is one of the rules we try to adhere to.
- arp242 2y agoIt's pretty clearly against the guidelines: https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html "Eschew flamebait. Avoid generic tangents. Omit internet tropes." "Please don't use Hacker News for political or ideological battle. That tramples curiosity."
- bluecheese452 2y agoRight back at you. You are the one making this an ideological battle which is clearly against the guidelines. This is a place for curiosity, not ideological witch hunts.
- sangnoir 2y agoForum 101: someone who posted flamebait cannot blame those who got baited for flamebaiting. Both are problematic, but the baiter is responsible for raising the temperature.
- codr7 2y agoMakes everything worse for you maybe, but that gives you no right to control the discussion. Your reactions are always your responsibility.
- sqeaky 2y agoSorry that my requests to stick to reality are seen as an attemtp to, "Control the discussion". No evidence based medical treatment has ever been improved (reasonable definitions like longevity and real metrics like numbers) by making it religious. The same goes for every human endeavor, religion taints and drags. At its core religion is belief before evidence and that simply isn't a path to long term progress.
