On the other hand, this sounds like something you just made up and decided to connect to the current topic. Is this fact or fiction?
- ako 2y agoIt's a theory, that may need validation ;-)
- the_gorilla 2y agoI haven't seen any evidence that giving more money to academia improves student results. It certainly hasn't worked for colleges, where you've seen a negative correlation over many years between quality of education and funding.
- o11c 2y ago"Fewer students per teacher" is widely supported by research, and teachers do cost money. But obviously just blindly throwing money won't help.
- the_gorilla 2y agoAll anyone ever talks about is "blindly throwing money". That's what the original complaint I responded to was; This is because we didn't sacrifice enough money to the altar of public schools! If it was just about classroom size, it wouldn't have warranted a response.
- cycomanic 2y agoWell then you haven't been looking very hard. If you look at PISA results (essentially the best data we have on this so far) there is a strong correlation between investment into education and performance.
